There has be a suggestion that we just do bullets and ditch all the rest of the relics. What to do you think?

Forum Content

Chuck & All -

This site is new to me so that should be considered in your evaluation. Others have many more hours invested. IMHO, this site have just gone thru a serious self evaluation with regard to continuing at all, or, alternatively, conveying the site to new owners/managers/administrators to operate. Then the proposal to operate in a "bullets only" mode is offered. Given the events of the past two weeks I'd have to opine that relics and posts other than bullets make up a substantial proportion of its content. What will the level of participation be if the content is limited to bullets only?

In the present case there are opportunities for all to post items that are of interest with some obvious advantages for those who like bullets and other stuff - I'm one of those. For those purists who wish only to peruse topics that are bullet-related I'd say you have that opportunity now. If some of us, me being one of the potential violators of strict subject content in my postings, do not adhere strictly enough to the topical classifications then I'd propose a focus on member education with limits on what any member can post to the "bullets" topic. Much like a market place it is not necessary to consume one product if you prefer another?!

In short, I, like numerous others, found this site almost by accident - not due to an established desire to focus on bullets. It has caused me to develop an interest in bullets, buy reference materials on bullets, purchase, trade, and to be given bullets and other relics as well as to make new friends. I would like to think I've given something in return with more to come that way. I know of no other site that is like this one, nor any operated so openly. It would be a shame to let it all go.

Just my thoughts fellas.

Dear Chuck,

In my humble opinion, the forum could be limited to ammunition, bullets, and cartridges.

Chuck:

I can understand the request for having "just bullets only" as the main topic. I looked at the amount of posts in the Bullet and Cartridge category and it far out weighs the posts and discussions of the other categories. Hmmmm... I would hate to see it go to "bullets only" but I understand your situation Chuck. Personally, when I sign on, I immediately go to the "bullet category" because that is what I primarily find and have an interest in. If we could still post pics of all our finds but still have the main emphasis on "bullets only", then I'll vote for a "bullet only" forum. I've learned a lot from you guys and would hate to see it all go away.

I guess I'll add my two cents. I, personally, would be for the site not being just bullets. I do understand that this IS CW BULLETS though! Maybe you could "trim the fat" so to speak. Some of the miscellaneous topics could go but then when people had something to discuss other than bullets we would have to tolerate it in another section. Those four topics in that section do not, too me, seem as important as the others. If the buy/sell section was omitted then it might encourage people to go to the auction, which would be a good thing. Anyway...I love this site and will continue to come to it no matter what!
Respectfully,
Travis.

I agree.

I think the center of the forum should be bullets, but I collect some of the other items and enjoy reading on them also. Keep the topics. If you need help ID'in items, let me know.

Chuck,

My main interest is bullets and will continue to be. Occasionally I check other sites for calvary items and other relics. I personally believe some of the index site could be combined ie. (dug items - buttons, plates, spurs, etc). The moving of bullets for sale to the auction was a fantastic idea and should help the auction get off to a better start. I guess the bottom line is I came here because of bullets but the draw back to only bullets is the expertise and number of other hunters/collectors that frequent this site. Tough decision on this poll, my vote would be to combine what index topics are closely related and eliminate the index topics which are utilized very seldom.

Well, since you are asking an opinion, I will give you mine. Remember, this is only my point of view and am in no way trying to force it upon anyone. I am the highest ranking member on this board that is not a moderator or bullet expert. This is what has kept me coming to this board for so long:

I am not like many of the collectors that participate on this board. Every bullet that I have has been taken from the ground by me personally. The desire to identify my finds sent me on a quest for knowledge and the most accessible knowledge is on the Internet. I didn't find this site by "accident" because I was looking specifically for something like this. When I found it I thought, "WOW, look at all of this!"

I am here mostly to learn, not to give an opinion about things. I have seen some brash responses to some posts. For these reasons, I do not post often when the topic is concerning bullets. However, I do pay attention, make my notes, and commit items to memory. This being said, I have learned much about bullets here on CWBullet.

I have also been here long enough to see periods of time in which this board went through some dire straights as far as participation goes. I did notice pick ups when the new categories were added. I know I certainly enjoyed reading and participating in other side discussions. Others that would like for the forum to be only bullet related, in my very humble opinion, do not necessarily have to read to other categories. We have had great discussions even related to over-seas bullets and things of the sort.

Much of the great activity of recent time has been spawned by newcomers and in some other sections than the bullet section. But if you look to see, the bullet portion of this board has also benefited from this. I think that the bullet section is still very much the center of this forum. Do these things not work together?

I am very much the bullet novice and enjoy learning about them. I also enjoy learning of the other things that are posted in the other sections. It is my hope that we can keep things as they are. Otherwise, I would only have half of the reason to visit. That would sadden me. Simply my opinion.

My belief.

I also mostly look at bullets and agree to a point, but believe that if you attract other area of collectors, It will help expand the membership to others who might be will to trade other items for bullets and vice versa.

I have not decided what I am going to do yet. I will have to think it out.
